How did you end up writing "If I
Could Talk I'd Tell You" with Eugene Kelley [Eugenius, The Vaselines]?
We were at a certain renowned and rich family's apartment in NY, and they had
Napolean Bonaparte's drafting table, and we were doing blow off Napolean
Bonaparte's pure gold drafting table and that's when we wrote that song. That
explains the weird references to totalitarianism [Khmer Rouge, Mein Kampf].
We're like, what are we going to do next, smoke crack though Hitler's
underpants? Then we found out that the guy from Orchestral Maneuvers in the
Dark, his first band was called Hitler's Underpants. With a Z. With a Zed, as
Eugene would say.
