We
are pleased to announce that in Term 1 2002 Australian Centre for Education will
start to offer Khmer language classes.
The
classes are taught using the same communicative, student-centred methodology
that works so well in our English language courses. The
Cambodian teachers have completed the four year Bachelor Degree Program
in Education at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
The
language input consists of practical, everyday vocabulary and language
functions, which students practice in groups and pairs. While speaking and
listening skills are the main focus, the Cambodian script will be introduced at
an early stage as a step towards reading and writing and to help with
pronunciation.
Initially
we are opening a 60 minute lunchtime class, twice a week aimed at
beginners/false beginners.
