The bus stops have varying degrees of rain shelter, worth considering.

Public works should take into account all of the public. It’s a challenge in Cambodia, with its big wealth gap.
(That’s why the rest rooms at the Veal Preah Mean park have families living there.)

But it should not be unthinkable to simply be kind. If you have similar examples of discriminatory / disciplinary architecture in Cambodia, feel free to share.

THURSDAY 2  July  6 PM we celebrate the EXHIBITION OPENING of “GLOBAL HYBRID”.
Cambodian contemporary artists Ouer Sokuntevy (above), Chhan Nawath, Riem Em, Leang Seckon, Pich Sopheap, Kong Vollak, Meas Sokorn meet counterparts from the diaspora (Tom Tor, Sayon Syprasoeuth, Ratha Hanh) as well as US based artists Stephane Janin (France) and Denise Scott. They explore, from their own point of view, how to define their GLOBAL HYBRID position beyond two cultures in this group show. The
exhibition is curated by Denise Scott and Lydia Parusol.

The Burnt Theatre, or Les Artistes du Theatre is a French-Cambodian docudrama directed by Rithy Panh. A blend of fact and fiction, the film depicts a troupe of actors and dancers in the burned-out shell of Cambodia’s former national theatre in Phnom Penh.
