Koh Ker

Blipped out to Koh Ker a little over a week ago. Probably the most off-road driving I've done yet - only wiped out four times. The road was dusty but I have little doubt it was far more comfortable by bike than by car. Set out from "Mysteries of Angkor" hotel at Siem Reap in the early AM, reached the temple by nightfall. Met up with some folks doing a temple survey (from EFEO) along the way, who joined up with our group. Covered in dust and dirt by evening then so an improvised shower by a local stream was a real treat. In the morning, Koh Ker itself was stunning, I will have to go back for a longer look. A grim reminder of why Koh Ker has been off the main route was provided by the demining signs that were present nearby. There are some other temples close by that should be viewable once some more clearance has been done. Andy Brouwer has some extensive pictures and notes on his own travel to Ko Ker if you want to see more. Stay tuned for pix.
