បំណែងចែកពិភពឌីជីថលថ្មី

ខ្ញុំបានជួបទទួលទានអាហារថ្ងៃត្រង់ជាមួយនឹង លុច្ស មាន និង វិរៈ នៅចុងសប្តាហ៍ ដើម្បីជជែកគ្នាលេងអំពី weblog។

យុវជនខ្មែរក្មេងៗកំពុងតែជក់ចិត្តដិតអារម្មណ៍ជាមួយនឹងទូរស័ទ្ទរបស់ពួកគេបេះមិនចេញ។ ប្រហែលជាព័ត៌មាននេះមួយចំនួនជួយបង្ហាញផ្លូវចូលទៅកាន់ weblog តាមរយៈការបញ្ជូនព័ត៌មានចេញពីទូរស័ព្ទទៅកាន់បណ្តាញ phone-to-blog ដូចជា សារជាអក្សរ រូបភាព វីដេអូ។ ខ្ញុំឆ្ងល់ថាតើការនេះអាចធ្វើទៅកាន់តែងាយស្រួលបានយ៉ាងដូចម្តេច? ខ្ញុំគិតថា មានបណ្តាញសំខាន់ៗមួយចំនួនដែលត្រូវតភ្ជាប់។

បន្ទាប់ពីបានជជែកគ្នាមួយសន្ទុះមក ប្រធានបទក៏បានចូលដល់រឿង Font Khmer Unicode។ នៅពេលដែលខ្ញុំចាប់ផ្តើមបញ្ជូនព័ត៌មានជាលើកដំបូង វាពុំមែនជាការងាយស្រួលទេក្នុងការបញ្ចូលព័ត៌មានជាភាសាខ្មែរ។ ប្រសិនបើលោកអ្នកត្រូវការចួលរួមការជជែកពិភាក្សាតាមប្រព័ន្ធអ៊ីនធឺណិត លោកអ្នកត្រូវប្រើភាសាអង់គ្លេស ឬអក្សរអង់គ្លេសបញ្ចេញសំលេងជាពាក្យខ្មែរ។

បច្ចុប្បន្ននេះ ដោយសារការអភិវឌ្ឍន៍នៃ Font Khmer Unicode មានអ្នកបញ្ចូលព័ត៌មានមួយចំនួនដូចជា មង្គល និង Khmerbird ប្រើប្រាស់ភាសាខ្មែរជាញឹកញាប់។ (តើនរណាកំពុងដឹកនាំគម្រោង Khmer Open Source Project? គឺជនជាតិដើមអេស្ប៉ាញឈ្មោះ Javier Sola)។

ខ្ញុំមានការរំភើបណាស់ដែលបច្ចុប្បន្ននេះមានប្រព័ន្ធបញ្ចូលព័ត៌មាន (Blogosphere) ជាភាសាខ្មែរ។ ដូចគ្នាទៅនឹងប្រទេសផ្សេងដែរ (ប្រទេសម៉ាឡេស៊ី ប្រទេសថៃ) មាន weblog ទាំងជាភាសាអង់គ្លេស ទាំងជាភាសាខ្មែរ។ បច្ចុប្បន្ននេះ ប្រជាជនកម្ពុជាអាចជជែកគ្នាជាភាសាខ្មែរបានដោយផ្ទាល់ជាមួយនឹងប្រជាជនកម្ពុជាផ្សេងទៀត។

ប៉ុន្តែ លុច្ស និង វីរៈ មានការពេញចិត្តចំពោះការបញ្ចូលព័ត៌មានជាភាសាអង់គ្លេសជាង។ ហេតុអ្វី? ពីព្រោះវាអាចភ្ជាប់ទំនាក់ទំនងនៃ weblog របស់ពួកគេជាមួយនឹងពិភពលោកខាងក្រៅ។ បន្ទាប់ពីអ្នកបច្ចេកទេសបានខិតខំប្រឹងប្រែងបង្កើតឱ្យមានការប្រើ Font Khmer Unicode អស់រយៈពេលជាច្រើនឆ្នាំមក យើងនៅតែមើលឃើញថាការប្រើប្រាស់ភាសាអង់គ្លេសទទួលបាននូវចំណាប់អារម្មណ៍យ៉ាងខ្លាំងក្លាដដែល។

ខ្ញុំគិតថា យើងនឹងឃើញនូវ “បំណែងចែកពិភពឌីជីថល” រីកលូតលាស់ឡើងក្នុងអំឡុងពេលប៉ុន្មានឆ្នាំខាងមុខនេះ: អ្នកដែលអាចអាន និងសរសេរទាំងភាសាអង់គ្លេស និងខ្មែរ និងអ្នកដែលមានការខ្វះខាតខ្លាំងខាងភាសាណាមួយ។ វាជារឿងមួយគួរឱ្យអស់សំណើចបន្តិច ដែលអ្នកតស៊ូមតិខ្លាំងក្លាបំផុតមួយចំនួនក្នុងការគាំទ្រ Font Khmer Unicode / Open Source គឺជាជនបរទេស!

ផ្លូវកាត់ (Shortcut) មួយដែលអាចមានៈ ការបញ្ចូលខ្សែវីដេអូបានបើកផ្លូវមួយសំរាប់ជីវិតរស់នៅរបស់ប្រជាជនកម្ពុជា ហើយជាមួយនឹងខ្សែសំលេងអិមភីស្រ៊ី (Audio MP3s) អាចទំលុះឧបសគ្គផ្នែកអក្សរ។ ប៉ុន្តែឱកាសទាំងនោះក៏នៅមានកំរិតនៅឡើយដែរ ដោយសារតែបញ្ហាទំហំរលកប្រេកង់ (Bandwidth)។

ប្រហែលជាថ្ងៃណាមួយយើងនឹងអាចឃើញមានការបកប្រែស្វ័យប្រវត្តិសំរាប់ភាសាខ្មែរដូចជា Babelfish ឬ Google Translation។ ប៉ុន្តែវាអាចមានតែមួយរយៈប៉ុណ្ណោះ ពីព្រោះវាគ្មានប្រាក់ឧបត្ថម្ភណាមួយធ្វើឡើងសំរាប់គម្រោងនេះទាល់តែសោះ។ (ខ្ញុំរំពឹងថានឹងឃើញការបកប្រែតាមអ៊ីនធើណិតសំរាប់ភាសាឥណ្ឌូនេស៊ី ឬភាសាថៃមុន)។

ទោះបីជាយើងមានចំណាប់អារម្មណ៍ក្នុងរឿងនេះក៏ដោយ ក៏ខ្ញុំត្រូវនឹកឃើញថា ប្រជាជនខ្មែរ ៩៩,៩% មិនដែលអាន weblog ទេ។ ពួកវានៅមិនទាន់ក្លាយទៅជាទម្រង់អត្ថបទនិពន្ធពេញច្បាប់…នៅឡើយទេ។ ប្រហែលជានៅថ្ងៃណាមួយខ្ញុំនឹងបានឃើញអ្នករត់ម៉ូតូឌុបបញ្ចូលព័ត៌មាននៅក្នុង weblog ស្តីពីការមិនពេញចិត្តរបស់គាត់ចំពោះតំលៃប្រេងសាំង ឬក៏កសិករត្អូញត្អែរអំពីការប្រមូលផលប្រចាំឆ្នាំរបស់គាត់។ ប៉ុន្តែខ្ញុំនៅតែគិតថា យើងមិនងាយនឹងទទួលបានការចូលរួមក្នុងកំរិតនោះពីប្រជាជនខ្មែរឡើយ។

Think getting people up to speed on HIV is a challenge?

It was tough enough in Western society; attempting it in a traditional, conservative Buddhist society has led to a multiplicity of efforts.

Cambodians have been bombarded with all kinds of HIV awareness campaigns, some that are well thought out, some a little less so, like the billboard above. In the wake of 1980s socialist realism propaganda, painted message boards have remained a common means of outreach – now for nonprofits. I’ve been organizing my photos this last week, so let’s look at a few.

AIDS can kill you! AIDS is incurable! But you can protect yourself against AIDS with a condom. (Siem Reap, 2002. The rusting sign adds a feeling of of creepy decay, like the people are already sick. The sign is now (like many of these), taken down due to weathering.)

Humoristic? Surreal? Hyper-real? Definitions are hard to apply. This kind of nonprofit art is unique and disappearing fast, though. I’ll continue to document it when I can.
