Capital, Capitol.

Down in Phnom Penh, catching up with friends. Printing a few jinja.apsara.org T-shirts. Crashed a few nights at the famed Capitol Guest house, immortalized in “Girls, Guns and Ganja - Off the Rails in Phnom Penh” Rumor has it the author has upset so many people its doubtful he’ll show up in Phnom Penh again.

Saw a fun Yike show (a form of Cambodian Opera) at Friends restaurant Monday, put on by the Cambodian Masters group. Despite rain and the awning falling down in a gust of wind, the kids soldiered on. Bravo! It’s amusing and fun to see the children playing adult roles, and the teacher they’ve recruited is one of the leading experts in the field.

Catching up on media diet…The new Beck CD just doesn’t do it for me. Enjoyed a screening of Gurinder Chadha’s ‘Bend it like Beckham’ - a bit of a message flick but entertaining, great music! Much less strident than her earlier Bhaji at the Beach.

Also new comic strip in Khmer and English, if you’re game.
