Germain & Pognakay
Dec 29th, 2007 by Jinja
Tonight (Saturday, December 29) is your second and last chance to see Germain’s Story, a collaborative performance between puppeteer Cécile Hurbault and Sovanna Phum.
The story utilizes live actors, french and Cambodian puppets to tell a short comedic story in three languages. Bravo!
I was also blown away by the increasing sophistication of Sovanna Phum’s adaptation of Pognakay, a tale from the Reamker (Khmer Ramayana). I’ve seen the story close to a dozen times, but this visit I frequently put my camera down just to enjoy the sheer spectacle of it. Mixing traditional forms of dance and different types of shadow puppetry, it’s a ‘must-see’ if you’ve got the opportunity.
Show starts at 7:30 pm (arrive early if you can) – Adults $5, Children $3.
