Hi! Great to see the covers of pre-1975 pulp fiction. I’m attempting to research children’s literature in Cambodia in the immediate pre-revolutionary years – comic books, popular cartoon characters etc. Do you know of any sources which might be helpful? I’m trying to find out to what extent French children’s favourites (Babar etc) and American imports penetrated the Cambodian market.
Best wishes, Chris
Hi Chris,
Lim Santepheap of Our Books is writing her MA on Cambodian Children’s literature in Quebec.
The best way to find out what was available in terms of literature is to ask a Cambodian who lived in those times.
Overseas Cambodians in Paris, as well as older in-country Cambodians would have some good general ideas.
