The Greater Angkor Project, a joint research program of the University of Sydney, APSARA and the EFEO is studying the extent and the demise of Angkor.
A new map of the extent of Angkor, based on AIRSAR radar data collected in September 2000 will be presented as a framework for reviewing excavations carried out in 2002 and 2003 in canals and moats of the water management system, and on domestic sites along the banks of channels outside Angkor Thom.
Associate Professor Fletcher is an Australian Director of the Greater Angkor Project. He is a member of the Department of Archaeology at the University of Sydney. His research expertise is the growth and decline of settlements and his current work concern the limits of pre-industrial urban growth. In 1995 his book “The Limits of Settlement Growth: a theoretical outline”, was published by Cambridge University Press.
The presentation will take place February 12, at 6:30 pm in the EFEO library.
