I collect local T-shirts and if you hit the shops near the Independence Monument you can come up with some hilarious ones. Where (wear) is your donor money going? Into these products – some quite clever, some completely botched.
This one gets a laugh from foreigners ’cause of the concept of nasty evil bamboo. It’s a Khmer saying, more like ‘as the twig is bent so grows the bough’ – cultivate your youth.

You gotta haggle. Sometimes $1 a shirt if you buy a bunch. Otherwise $2 but hey, it is one of a kind – sometimes the last of its kind. Political parties, acronym-laden programs, Water Festival boats – you name it, they got it.
